Oscars 2013: Best Director, Who Should Win?

This years best directing category was the biggest surprise when the nominees names where announced. Former front runner and previous winner Kathryn Bigelow wasn't shown any love from the academy for her work on Zero Dark Thirty, but she wasn't the only one. Ben Affleck's name was absent as well for Argo and Tom Hooper was nowhere to be seen. Very surprising after they all picked up Diretors Guild of America nominations. So who are the lucky devils who did get nominated, let's take a look shall we?

Here is this list of the nominees:

"Amour" Michael Haneke

"Beasts of the Southern Wild" Benh Zeitlin

"Life of Pi" Ang Lee

"Lincoln" Steven Spielberg

"Silver Linings Playbook" David O. Russell

Who will win?
"Lincoln" Steven Spielberg
Steven Spielberg's Lincoln has been critically well received and has been tipped to win the prize for months. With his biggest competition out of the way, the door has been left wide open for Spielberg to step in and claim his third best directing Oscar, greedy piggy.

Who Should win? "Life of Pi" Ang Lee

Ang Lee did such a brilliant job bringing this seemingly impossible book from page to screen, balancing breathtaking imagery, special effects and 3D that's works without ever compromising the story or the characters. Its a brilliant piece of work that is well deserving of a win.

Who Should have been nominated? "Argo" Ben Affleck.

Well it had to be, didn't it? After picking up the Golden Globe for Best Picture and Best Director, the Sag award for Best Cast, the Producers Guild of America award for Best Film and the Directors Guild of America for Best Director, it looks like the academy has made a massive mistake in not nominating Affleck for his wonderful work in Argo, for shame.

What do think of the choices I've made? Do you agree wholeheartedly or do you angrily disagree? Feel free to let me know; comment, like, share and follow. Thanks.
