Oscars 2013: Best Actress, Who Should Win?

This years best actress category is as eclectic as the ages of the actresses that are nominated. The biggest surprise for me was nine year old Quvenzhane Wallis, the youngest to ever be nominated in this category. This one looks like it's a two way race to the finish between Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Lawrence.

Here are the nominations:

Jessica Chastain - Zero Dark Thirty.

Jennifer Lawrence - Silver Linings Playbook.

Emmanuelle Riva - Amour.

Quvenzhane Wallis - Beast of the Southern Wild.

Naomi Watts - The Impossible.

Who will win? Jessica Chastain - Zero Dark Thirty.

Zero Dark Thirty has been getting a lot of press, both good and bad, but admist all the controversy one thing has been agreed on, Jessica Chastain's performance is amazing. And after a win at the Golden Globes, not to mention a slew of others, I think Jessica Chastain will be the one called out come Oscar night.

Who should win? Jennifer Lawrence - Silver Linings Playbook.

Jennifer Lawrence's scene stealing performance in Silver Linings Playbook has been picking up awards left, right and center. I think it would make a nice change to reward a more comic role over the dramatic for once. She deserves the Oscar for the monologue she delivers in front of Robert De Niro alone.

Who should have been nominated? Marion Cotillard - Rust and Bone.

Cotillard's performance in Rust and Bone was brilliant, both strong and subtle while never going over the top. While I don't think it should win, I feel that it should have been recognized with a nomination.

What do think of the choices I've made? Do you agree wholeheartedly or do you disagree angrily? Feel free to let me know, comment, like, share and follow, thanks.
