Oscars 2013: Best Song, Who Should Win?

Today I'm taking a look see at the songs nominated for this years Best Original Song. It's looking like it could be a very close race between Skyfall by some one called Adele, whoever she is, and the new song written for Les Miserables. Or will we be in for a surprise come Oscar night?

Here are the songs that are nominated...

"Before My Time" from "Chasing Ice"
Music and Lyric by J. Ralph

"Everybody Needs A Best Friend" from "Ted"
Music by Walter Murphy; Lyric by Seth MacFarlane

"Pi's Lullaby" from "Life of Pi"
Music by Mychael Danna; Lyric by Bombay Jayashri

"Skyfall" from "Skyfall"
Music and Lyric by Adele Adkins and Paul Epworth

"Suddenly" from "Les Misérables"
Music by Claude-Michel Schönberg; Lyric by Herbert Kretzmer and Alain Boublil

Who will win? "Suddenly" from "Les Misérables"

I feel that the academy will want to reward the brilliant work done on the adaptation of this classic stage show, and while I don't see the film winning any of the top categories, well apart for Anne Hathaway of course, I think the academy will give it an Oscar for best original song.

Who should win? "Skyfall" from "Skyfall"

Skyfall is one of the best Bond themes in decades, not to mention the biggest Bond Hit ever in terms of sales, and isn't it about time that a Bond song won an Oscar? If there was ever anyone to finally snag one, then it's Adele. Also this song is so much better then Suddenly in my opinion.

Who should have been nominated? "Who Did That To You?" from "Django Unchained"
This year there were so many songs that were overlooked and it's been pretty hard to chose just one when there's been three brilliant songs from Django Unchanied alone. John Legend's Who Did That To You? is a great song that should have seen it's way on the list of nominees.

What do think of the choices I've made? Do you agree wholeheartedly or do you disagree angrily? Feel free to let me know; comment, like, share and follow. And if you're as big a fan of Skyfall as I am, then check out some fantastic youtube covers of the song right here. Thanks.
