Lady Gaga's Applause VS Katy Perry's Roar - Which Is Best?

POP EMERGENCY! After numerous leaks and cries of outrage from the hardcore fans, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry have both rush-released their highly anticipated new singles. Do they live up to the hype? And which is best? Listen to both songs now after the jump.
Co-produced by Lady Gaga and DJ White Shadow, Applause is the lead single from the singers forthcoming ARTPOP album and to be honest, it seems to be a bit of a grower. While Applause may not immediately strike listeners in the same way that Bad Romance did, I personally think that the song has the potential to surpass Born This Way given some repeated listens. I love the sound of her voice on the track but Gaga needs this to be a smash after the lukewarm reception she received for her previous album. Is it inventive enough? Give us another Telephone goddammit!

Katy Perry has a lot to live up to following the ridiculous success of the Teenage Dream album so what do you do? Call Max Martin! New song Roar has a fantastic pop chorus that just hits you instantly and while it may not represent much of an evolution in the singers sound, its already a guaranteed hit in my eyes. But will the rest of her upcoming Prism album be any good? It's definitely got potential if Roar is anything to go by.
