The Queen of K-Pop has returned this week with a brand new track called 'Disturbance' that she wrote and composed herself. The song is a 90s style RnB ballad that has a similar vibe to Boa's 2012 hit 'Only One', but it flies in the face of pretty much everything else that's big in k-pop right now. While most other acts are cheesy and attention grabbing with their flashy dance routines, Boa continues to play it cool in the promo, with a classy demeanor that is subtly sexy rather than in your face. Whether 'Disturbance' will appeal more to Korean or Western audiences though remains to be seen but you owe it to yourself to see what all the fuss is about by clicking below.
Loving the knitwear Boa! Not much happens in the video for 'Disturbance' except for some romantic looks between the two leads but it suits the gentle tone of the song. It's a shame that there aren't any random English words thrown in for me to sing along to but I still enjoy listening to 'Disturbance' for Boa's beautiful voice. I'm still not sure about the contradictory subtitles at the end though but then that's classic k-pop!
In case you're wondering, the male love interest is called Lee Taemin and according to his wikipedia page, Taemin is a South Korean idol singer, dancer, actor, promotional model and radio host. Lazy bastard. This is Taemin's first appearance in a Boa music video, although he did dance with her for performances of 'Only One' during her live comeback shows last year. Personally, I can't decide who looks prettier in the 'Disturbance' promo but then that's just me.
So what do you think of 'Disturbance'? Does it measure up to 'Only One' or are you not a fan of Boa's new material? And do you enjoy the video or do you wish there was a dance routine thrown in there somewhere? Let me know what you think by commenting, liking and sharing below. Thanks!
