I love the 90s Films.
Do you remember when going to the cinema didn’t cost more than a fiver? When you didn’t have to wear those stupid 3D glasses? When summer blockbusters were original ideas and not just a faceless sequel or remake? When a film was either a 12 or PG and there was none of this silly 12a nonsense?
Ah, the 90s. A decade of cinema that brought us some classics from some of the greats, like Steven Spielberg’s’ Jurassic Park and Schindler’s list, both released in the same year. Let’s not also forget the last film release from iconic British director Stanley Kubrick, Eyes wide shut. And we were also introduced us to a new generation of talent, including Quentin Tarantino, Kevin Smith and Kevin Costner, wait what?
With the exception of Costner, the 90s rock my socks. Remember that bit in Independence Day when you see the space ship come over New York for the first time? That blew my mind. Or that bit in Jurassic Park when you see the dinosaur for the first time, awesome. And that moment when the Titanic is sinking and the lights go out and it cracks in half, that was possibly the most exciting hour of film ever for me. I love them all.
I love it when Simba was raised up by Rafiki. I loved that each year there would be a new animated Disney musical and only like one Pixar, I loved it when Jack and Rose fell in love as well as Shakespeare. When Forest ran and so did Lola. I could spend hours talking about how much I love this incredible era of cinema, how popular Robin Williams was and how bad people’s hair looked back then but I won’t, I’ll just tell you to go and watch some right now.
I can’t get enough of 90s cinema and I never will.
what do you think? is there any films I didn't mention that you loved from the 90s? Be sure to like, follow and check out 90s TV post, there will be more coming soon.
