Loki VS Ravenna for Best Villain in the 2012 Summer Blockbuster Stand-Off

Summer is drawing to a close; the days will soon be getting shorter, the temperaturewill be dropping and people everywhere will fall victim to Seasonal Affect Disorder so what better way to cheer yourself than recapping the best and worst films of the blockbuster season!? Hey, it beats buying thermal vests. So let’s get started.

Our first award is for Best Villain Who Is Not A CGI Transformers Reject (Cheers Michael Bay).
Bad luck Megatron!

So that’s the aliens in Battleship out instantly. And goodbye Lizard. Bane was good but not as good as the Joker so who does that leave then?
First up, in the sexy bitch corner, we have Charlize Theron as Ravenna in Snow White and the Huntsman.

2012 was a big year for Theron but as much as I loved her in Prometheus and Young Adult, she really stole the whole film in Snow White as Ravenna, fleshing out what could have been a very generic villain into someone far more sinister yet still relatable. I loved her to the point where I actually wanted Ravenna to win at the end instead of Snow White (although that's partly just because I can't stand Kristen Stewart). And Theron looked incredible coming out of that weird milk bath!
And how cool was it when she exploded into loads of ravens?!

Ok, so she was amazing but now, in the crazed megalomaniac corner, we have Tom Hiddleston as Loki in Avengers Assemble.

Now, I am aware that Avengers Assemble did have its own fair share of alien CGI rejects but Loki more than made up for this. In probably the best Marvel film of all time, Hiddleston stood out as a fantastic villain, whether he was verbally sparringwith Iron Man, being thrown around by the Hulk or scaring the crap out of me as he threatened the Black Widow. Don't believe me? Watch below.

Hiddleston shone in an ensemble film where hecould have very easily been side-lined against bigger names such as Robert Downey JR, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Hemsworth.

So, the moment of truth. I kind of want to give it to both ofthem but rules are rules, so the winner of Best Villain Who Is Not A CGITransformers Reject (Cheers Michael Bay) goes to…

Tom Hiddleston as Loki. What can I say? I'm a fanboy. Congrats Tom. No need to thank me. Agree? Disagree? Write your comments below.
