MTV VMA 2012. Best New Artist: Who should win?

Only three days left to go until the big night and we've looked at most of the general catagres now. Today we take a look at the award for best new artist, which is one of the original awards from 1984. It has been previously won by Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Avenged Sevenfold, wait, who? (I have no idea.) Lets take a look at the list of people who could go on to become  legends or has beens.
Best New Artist, here are the nominations:

  • Fun. Ft. Janelle Monae - 'We are young'

  • Carly Rae Jepsen - 'Call me maybe'

  • Frank Ocean - 'Swim good.'

  • One Direction - 'What makes you beautiful'

  • The Wanted - 'Glad you came'

Who will win: One Direction - 'What makes you beautiful'

One Diretion have had an incredible year, with a top ten hit single and smash number one album, which is the second best selling of the year so far. There is no doubt that they've made a huge impact in the music industry this year and I'm sure they will walk away with this moonman.

Who should win: Frank Ocean - 'Swim good'
Critic favorite Frank Ocean is a member of hip hop collective OFWGKTA, which also features last years best new artist winner Tyler, the Creator, and he has already worked with the likes of Beyonce, Jay Z and Kanye West. The vidoe sees Ocean driving around in a Samurai coustume beofre driving his car into fire, very deep.

Who should have been nominated: Lana Del Rey - 'Video games'
I don't get it, for some reason poeple don't seem to like Lana Del Rey. I feel she has been grossly overlooked this year. She describes herself as a 'self-styled gangsta Nancy Sintra' and has created a unqiue theatrical sound, thats littered with pop cultural references.

What do you think? Agree or disagree? Or have I forgotten someone who should have been nominated?
Plus, share, follow and comment and be sure to come back tomorrow for Most Share-Worthy video.

  1. Completely agree about Lana Del Ray - why has she been overlooked? And she's hot, which doesn't hurt.
