And until the album comes out, here's the new song with the official video.
One Direction - Live While We're Young
The new video sees the boys getting up to all kinds of PG mischief that appeals equally to both teenage girls and mums everywhere. It's all about the music for them, I'm certain. I'm not as sure about Liam's new look though but Zayn and Louis have done me proud as always!
Nicki Minaj - The Boys ft Cassie
As if the deluxe version of Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded wasn't long enough, Nicki Minaj has decided to re-release the album so it now has the ridiculous moniker of Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded: The Re-Up. No matter. The lead single marking its release features the return of Cassie, one of the most underrated RnB artists of recent years in my eyes. Thank you Nicki! I can't wait to see them together in the official video. In the meantime, here's the song which features one of Nicki's more crazy raps with a smooth chilled out RnB chorus from Cassie.
Carly Rae Jepsen - The Kiss
While Call Me Maybe was easily one of the best pop songs of the last year, I was a little worried that Carly may end up as a one hit wonder after the average collaboration she's released with Owl City. However, this follow-up single which marks the release of her debut album has completely set aside any doubts I had. While it may not be as immediately catchy as her first song, The Kiss is definitely a grower which now marks Carly as an artist to watch.
Pink - Just Give Me A Reason ft Nate Reuss
In perhaps one of the most random collaborations of the year, Pink has teamed up with the lead singer of Fun. for a track off her new album The Truth About Love. In an unusual turn around for a duet between a man and a woman, Pink has the harsher more anguished tone in the duet while Nate has the softer, more gentle voice and together, the two have created a beautiful song about a couple who are falling out of love. The only thing I don't get about this is why Pink hasn't chosen this song as her follow-up single instead of the slightly generic Try. Ah well, I'm sure it'll get an official release soon as the chorus just hits you upon first listen.
Missy Elliott - 9th Inning ft Timbaland
After what seems like forever, Missy Elliott has finally returned with new solo material in the form of not one but two new singles which precede the release of her new album Block Party, which is to be finally released in the next year. Both songs see Missy return to old friend and regular collaborator Timbaland, who has produced most of her albums since the 1990s. While Triple Threat is a great song, 9th Inning is the one for me that really shows off Missy's genius lyrics combined with dark ominous production from Timbaland. Nicki Minaj is amazing and all but she has a long way to go before she can match Missy's sheer talent and iconic status.
So there's my latest round-up of the the best music that's just come out. If you've enjoyed any of the songs that I've shared or even if you're just insanely obsessed with One Direction then please comment, follow, plus and like below. Come back in a few days for a new regular music feature that will take a look back at some of my favourite artists from the last two decades and ask the question 'Whatever Happened To RnB?'. Expect to see some of your favourite singers and groups who you might not have heard from in some time and see what they're up to now.
