Avengers Assemble - 5 Reasons Why It Kicks Ass!

The polls have closed for the final part of the 2012 Summer Blockbuster Stand-Off. It was close between the five nominees but in the end, the winner you voted in for Best Film was Avengers Assemble!

Well done guys! There they are accepting their award now!

Out of all the films released this summer, Avengers was the game changer, becoming one of the most successful blockbusters of all time. Who says comics are just for kids?! To celebrate its win, here are five reasons why I'm in love with this movie;

1) There is a serious amount of hotness in those 143 minutes!

Chris Evans. Liam Hemsworth. Scarlet Johansson. Mark Ruffalo. Jeremy Renner. That's all you need to know.

2) The final fight scene is epic!

Sure the aliens were a pretty faceless enemy but to see the team fighting together on such a large scale felt like something lifted straight out of the comics. The best bits included Hulk jumping through one of those giant floating caterpillar things and when the camera panned around the entire team as they prepared for battle. Epic.

3) The face-off between Iron Man, Thor and Captain America is awesome!

Perhaps even more exciting than the team working together was seeing these three Marvel icons facing off against each other on screen. The best bit for me was when Thor attacked Captain America, who protected himself with his shield, sending off sparks of energy everywhere. It's just a shame that the whole thing didn't last longer.

4) Loki is one scary mutha!

Tom Hiddleston does a brilliant job of making Loki menacing yet strangely human. As I've already mentioned in a previous post, my favourite Loki moment was when he threatens Black Widow while being trapped in prison. The scene is pretty hardcore considering the film's 12A rating. Here's a clip of it here.

5) Mark Ruffalo makes a surprisingly great Hulk!

There have been many Hulks over the years and amidst the controversy regarding Edward Norton's departure from the role, Mark Ruffalo stepped up to the plate and did a brilliant job. While many of his previous roles have been quite light or comic in nature, Ruffalo takes a more serious approach to his Hulk, while still keeping the character of Bruce Banner likeable. Well done Mark! Let's hope he continues to play the Hulk in future incarnations of the role.

So there you have it. Avengers Assemble is the film of the summer. Was there really any doubt? Now all we have to do is wait for the sequel :( If you agree or think that there was a better blockbuster released this summer, let me know below.
